Katherine Heigl is open about being raised in "a White bubble." She also shares how that realization has affected her parenting of adopted children who are multi-racial. In an interview, she spoke about the "Firefly Lane" and "Grey's Anatomy" actress admitted that her appearance didn't concern her. But after having a conversation with her adoptive sister from South Korea about how society was treating them, she became conscious of the differences their lives were. "I wanted to know Meg whether she felt that she was treated differently when going out with our parents and those who went out on her own. Meg replied, "Oh yeah, always!" Heigl told Parents, "That made me realise that I had been so ignorant." She said that she was frustrated, but she felt it was necessary to use her anger to help her daughters. Heigl along with her 13-year-old husband -- the singer Josh Kelley -- have an infant son, aged 4 years old. Joshua Bishop Kelley, Jr. Their daughter Nancy Leigh was adopted from South Korea by the couple in 2009. Adalaide is an Black 8-year-old girl who was adopted by the couple in 2012.
